Inertia can also be described as a body's tendancy to maintain momentum - once it has a specific momentum, it will maintain that same momentum until an outside force acts upon the body.

Momentum is calculated using the following formula:

P = mv

Where P is momentum (a vector quantity), m is the mass of the object (a scalar quantity), and v is the object's velocity (a vector quantity).
