However it can be potentially fatal if left completely untreated. Most problems associated with nutcracker syndrome are dietary in nature -- poor nutrition or dehydration. It can also lead to heart problems -- anuerism for example, or ischemism.
There are actually two associated problems -- nutcracker syndrome which is the compression of the renal vein and sma syndrome which is the compression of the duodenum.
You should definitely get treatment no matter how mild your condition is (overtime it's bound to be a bad thing, putting stress on your body, especially locally like your aorta). Treatment does not always mean surgery -- in fact if it is mild, surgery may be a bad idea.
