Normal gardening is planting vegetables and flowers. Permaculture takes gardening to a new level. Permaculture would not allow pesticides. Extra vegetables and fruit would be donated to a shelter or shared with neighbors as well as birds, and animal life. Rainwater can be collected in barrels and used when needed. Leaves, yard waste, and vegetable table scraps can be composted to enrich the garden soil. Plants such as milkweed would be allowed to stay in the garden to encourage Monarch Butterflies.
Permaculture is a gardening style that attempts to setup a perminent agriculture. A way of designing systems that improve the soil, setup groups of plants that work well together, and provide a yield. The phrase was coined by Bill Mollison and David Holmgren in the 1970s.
Agriculture and culture which is permanent and sustainable is what permaculture is. Belief in and practice of permaculture requires looking at what will keep people and soil healthy and productive.
Permaculture College Australia was created in 2004.
David Holmgren has written: 'Permaculture' -- subject(s): Permaculture 'Sustainable Living at Melliodora Hepburn Permaculture Gardens'
Permaculture is highly sustainable because it is about applying a set of principles that are in harmony and allows the normal functions of an ecosystem to occur while keeping a place for humans in this equation. It maximizes resources and minimizes human impact. So by all means YES!
The eco-system sustainability of permaculture food gardening designs is the way that the organic farming promoted by EduPlant also encourages recycling of wastes. Permaculture food gardening serves as an example of an agricultural and social system that emphasizes copying and using natural eco-system features and patterns. Composting of kitchen scraps and yard debris tends to be an important component in the above-mentioned design that emphasizes the cleanliness of the environment, the naturalness of the inputs and procedures, and the quality of the product.

Yes, it is possible to use permaculture. Permaculture consciously or unconsciously motivates individuals who grow their own edibles, mulch their plants, and recycle items for other on-site uses or into compostable materials.
