Sowing is the action of planting seeds for growth usually by scattering them over the soil.
Sowing
The process in which the field is levelled for sowing the seeds, for irrigation and for breaking the big pieces of soil is called levelling.
Sowing is the process of planting seeds. In seeding, little if any soil is placed over the seeds. More precisely, seeds can be generally sown into the soil by maintaining a planting depth of about 2-3 times the size of the seed
the soil will not be loosened and will not be good for cultivation.
The advantages of the 'Pre-sowing tilling' activities are as follows: 1)The land is ploughed deep so the soil is turned up, it makes the soil friable and suitable for growing crops.Weeding becomes easier. The stubble and roots of previous crops become loose and are picked out. After that the soil is evened out and the land is ready for sowing. 2)Loosening the soil exposes the germs and insects in it to the sun and thus kills them. Ploughing also helps to aerate the soil, that is it helps air to enter deeper into the soil. 3)Loose soil prevents water from flowing away from the surface and helps it to percolate into the soil.
If you do not see the seeds that you sowed, that means that the seeds were not planted properly. You have to first till the soil before sowing the seeds on to the soil.
Soil , if ploughed in a dry season , it breaks into big mud pieces called crumbs . It is necessary to break these crumbs with a wooden plank or iron leveller . With the help of these , the field is levelled for sowing as well as for irrigation.
