The Amazon Basin occupies sections of Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana. It is nowhere near Mexico. The Amazon River does not border any of these countries. Its path takes it through Brazil and Peru, and other rivers from Venezuela do flow into it, but it is nowhere near Mexico.

The Orinoco River arises in the Cordillera De Mérida and flows for 510 miles (820 km) northeast and east through the heart of the Llanos (plains), Venezuela's most important cattle-raising area. The Orinocco with its rich aluvial soils is the biggest water system in Venezuela followed by the Apure and Caroni rivers.
