If a Blackfoot wife were unfaithful her husband was entitled to slice off the tip of her nose and cut her hair short, to make her unattractive to any other man. There is a photograph of a Blackfoot woman mutilated in this way on page 108 of the book "The Blackfeet; Raiders on the Northern Plains" by John C Ewers.

An unfaithful husband was treated less harshly; he might have a horse confiscated as a kind of fine.

Nose mutilation for women was apparently a widespread punishment among the Blackfoot tribes and is well documented.

If your great-grandmother was an American Indian are you considered an Indian?

Presuming that your great grandmother was half Indian and presuming there are no other lines of Indian in you, that would make your Grandmother 1/4 Indian, your mother 1/8th Indian and yourself 1/16th. Not enough to be called Indian. If your great grandmother was less than half, that would lower those percentages.
