Cell wall: A rather rigid layer surrounding plant cells as well as some other types (i.e. bacteria, fungi). In plants, it is made of the carbohydrate cellulose. This structure helps give the cell shape and support, as well as some protection (even though it is permeable to foreign substances unlike the cell membrane (common to plant and animal cells) which is selectively permeable. It also prevents the cell from over-expanding and rupturing when placed into a hypotonic solution (when the concentration of water outside is greater than that inside.

Chloroplast: An organelle containing the green pigment chlorophyll (and others) which is used in plants to synthesize the carbohydrate glucose using energy from the sun. Possibly were once free-living bacteria which developed an endosymbiotic relationship with early eukaryotes and became chloroplasts.

Central Vacuole: True, animal cells have vacuoles but they are not nearly as big. The central vacuole stores food and water, and sometimes exerts osmotic (water) pressure, pressing the cytoplasm against the cell wall to make it large and rigid. (This is why fruit sellers spray water on their fruit--it makes the fruit look more appealing!)

How animal cell is different from plant cell?

well the animal is different from a plant cell because a plant cell have a cell wall, & chloroplast and the animal cell does not

How are animal and plant cells different when become two cells?

Animal and plant cells are different because the plant cell has everything that the animal cell has, but the animal cell doesn't have everything that the plant cell has, in terms of the animal cell not having the cell membrane and the chloroplast.

Who a animal cell and plant cell ar different?

an animal cell is only a littledifferent from a plant cell

What is the different of animal cell to plant cell?

the plant cell have an cell wall but the animal cell havent cell wall , animal cell have lysosomes and the plant havent lysosomes.

How is an animal cell different from a plant cell?

A plant cell has a cell wall.

How are plant cell different from animal cell?

Well, since plant cells have a cell wall and chloroplasts, the animal cell does not. The animal cell has centrioles and lysosomes, while a plant cell does not.

Why ar animal and plant cells different?

Plant cells contain cell walls, chloroplasts, and a permanent vacuole. Animal cells contain lysosomes. That is how plant and animal cells are different.

What is the different in a animal cell and a plant cell?

animal cells have a nucleus and plant cells do not. Animal cells also have a cell wall.

What is different from plant cells and animal cells?

Animal cell do not have cell wall while plant cell do have cell wall. In Animal cell plastids are usually absent and plant cell have plastids.

Is a cell membrane a plant or animal cell or both plus?

A plant has a cell membrane and so does an animal, but they're not just one. An animal has a cell membrane just like a plant but they look different and have different functions.

What are the different and similarities between the plant cell and animal cell?

Animal cells have no cell Walls and plant cells have a cell wall
