All of them were conquered by either Spain, France or Portugal during the 16th century; as a consequence, all these countries have Spanish, Portuguese or French as main language and all of them have Roman Catholicism as their main religion. Also, most of them were home to several Native American peoples, and during their colonial days received a large amount of Sub-Saharan slaves. Hence, most of these countries have several combinations of African, Native American and Caucasian people.
Besides that, most countries within Latin America are completely different, including their food, their culture, their music and even their racial composition.
