In North Korea, the leadership is a hereditary Dictatorship (Complete power from parent to sibling). Leaders are chosen by the current leader before their time of death. For example the current leader is Kim Jong-il, and he hasn't formally announced it (But it is speculated to be true) that his heir is Kim Jong-un. Hope this helps!

North Korea is controlled by a dictator Kim Jong-Eun. He is the 3rd generation of his family to be a leader. The leadership is hereditary. The first dictator was KIm ill-sung. The second dictator was Kim Jung-ill. And now the 3rd dictator is Kim Jong-Eun. There is no democracy in North Korea though they claim to be democratic when we see their country name "Democratic People's Republic of Korea"

The leader of North Korea is elected but as no-one is allowed to stand against him in an election there is only one person to vote for. This is sometimes termed a Marxist state but can also be referred to as a dictatorship. The present leader is the son of the original leader.

Supposedly they have elections, but there's always been hype over whether they're rigged or not. Given the situation, it's hard to tell.
