The Legislative Branch impeaches the president, overrides presidential vetoes, rejects treaties, witholds funding for initiatives, and rejects presidential appointments. It takes a two thirds vote to do these though.
Every branch is checked by each other. The executive branch can't impose it's agenda without the legislative branch writing and passing laws that the president can sign into law. The Supreme Court checks both the legislative and executive branch with the ability to rule any law unconstitutional.
