They use to bike around to each others houses, promoting fitness, there was less obesity levels.

speak face to face rather than over the internet like some teenagers of today.

ans2. But as far as calculation was concerned, it was more difficult. In the 1960s, I had to do the calculations for some surveying, and this involved using 12-figure logarithms, pencil & paper, and trying to remember my geometry and trig.

There were no calculators (other than the mechanical behemoths from Munro and that office supplies company International Business Machines. ) they were expensive, massive, and were aimed mainly at the business community, so 12-figure sums were out.

And, even a few years later, when the first electronic calculators became available, even doing a standard deviation was a lot of work, for none of the early calculators had such esoteric functions on them!!

So life was more difficult, and it would be an unusual scientific paper which had standard deviations in it! But it was what we had, and no one knew any better.

People socialised more, you'd see more creative minds around and people would be certainly less obese- spending time on the computer, no matter how much FIFA youplay, won't improve your fitness. ;)

People would spend more tie in the libraries doing research for projects rather than just using Google to find it, and also people would have much harded jobs to do, like, writing letters in hand, storing data in drawers, not in computers.

The computer has made a huge change in people's lives, and people can't imagine their lives without the Internet .Now sitting in front of the table and clicking a mouse, peoples can easily get access to the Internet. Over 80 percent of people in the world use the Internet every day. Because of the Internet, people can quickly sell, advertise, and share knowledge. Life before and after the invention of the computer are totally different, but what have changed the most are communication and information.

As far a data storage, files, etc., it was all done manually on paper and stored in file cabinets. Even grocery store chashiers had to manually punch in the price and department number of every single item purchased because there were no computer scanners. The store inventory also had to be manually counted because there was no other way to keep track of how many of each item was sold, and how many needed to be re-ordered.

There were fax machines to transmit documents immediately, but other than that, the only way to correspond was by "snail mail" and telephones.

Was the computer invented in 1890s?

Sorry, I made a mistake and I hope I did not case you trouble. There is a big line when we define a computer, it is not like we look at out computers today. Something making a calculation can be a computer. The first computer, which is on display, and called a computer, was invented in 1847 by Charles Babbage. This question has been answered before on wiki answers, and the page is very long depending on what class is considered a computer, so as it seems it would have to be asked by what class of computer to get the right answer.
