Mitochondrial DNA is passed in an unbroken line from mother to offspring. The father does not contibute mt DNA to his children. Any changes in DNA sequences builds up gradually from mutations only. These mutations can be compared across populations for differences and simarlarities and therefore trace movements and ancestry of human populations. This removes any confusion that arises from nuclear DNA in which is a mixture of both parents and so changes with every generation. One exception for this is Y chromosome DNA which is passed in an unbroken line from father to son and can be used in a similar way as analysing mt DNA but only for males.
Because, it allows scientists to trace human origins along a direct ancestral line.
?
None, mitochondrial DNA is inherited from the mother.
It resembles mitochondrial DNA
There are two kinds of DNA in a eukaryotic cell, nuclear and mitochondrial. Nuclear is found in the nucleus and mitochondrial is found in the mitochondria. However, not as many people know about mitochondrial DNA and the only time it is ever refered to is when you are tracking the mother's side of a family with DNA. So for the most part, DNA is found in the nucleus.Eukaryote DNA is located in the nucleus of the cell.
Damage in mitochondrial DNA will have the most effect on cellular respiration. This is due to the fact that the surface area will be damaged.
stop using the computer and look inside your notes!
Mitochondrial DNA - journal - was created in 1980.
Mitochondrial DNA comes from the mother, so the mother's maternal line and all her children share the same mitochondrial DNA.
Mitochondrial DNA codes for 13 mitochondrial proteins, 16S and 12S rRNA and 22 tRNAs
In most organisms, including humans, the mitochondrial DNA is inherited from the mother.
None, mitochondrial DNA is inherited from the mother.
Mitochondrial dna is inherited solely from the mother.
Yeast's is (~78kb), while human's is about 17kb
