The horse drawn reaper was invented in the 1800s. It plowed the fields and fields of grass that the farmers had to grow crops in. It was more efficient and saved alot of time.
The McCormick reaper exponentially increased the agricultural output. While this raised supply and quantity of U.S. imports, it was also detrimental to farmers because it caused a deflation of price in the crops. Furthermore, due to the fact that the reaper was quite expensive, agriculture slowly started to shift towards rich companies rather than poor, local farmers. The reaper made agriculture far more mechanized and competitive.
Cyrus Mc Cormick invented a mechanical reaper for farmers. With this he relieved farmers from hours of back breaking laborious work.
