# A Red Giant is a star that is made up of many elements, but its surface temperature is lower than most stars, that is why it is described as being 'red'. # A Giant Redwood is another name for the Giant Sequoia tree. Sequoias have a spongy bark. Most of the plant has a high cellulose content, but being a complex living thing, many different chemicals and elements are found in sequoia wood, as in all woods. We don't know. We just guess based on things like the light that they emit and the gravitational pull they have on other stars or heavenly objects. Our best guess is that they probably have helium and hydrogen in them.

A red giant forms when a star runs out of hydrogen fuel at its core and starts fusing hydrogen in a shell around the core the core. This causes the star to expand and cool.
