To be a forensic scientists one must have at minimum the skills of chemists, biologists, mathematicians and public speaking. Academically a forensic scientist usually has a degree in mathematics or one of the sciences, or sometimes both.

The word "theory" is used differently by scientists than by the general public. The general public means "theory" as a proposed explanation for something which is not proven and which is possibly spurious; scientists may mean "theory" in that way, but may also mean "theory" as a hypothesis that has been tested multiple times and has been validated each time.
