Cows are mammals, which means they are able to maintain their internal environment at a constant temperature. They also have to eat every day to maintain this temperature and keep the cells in their bodies functioning and reproducing new cells and replacing old ones. All this is very similar to all other mammals like ourselves.

They have their ways. They get used to the scents, sights and environment of their new home, and walk the fence line to get to know where the fence is and how big an area they have to live in.

Cattle adapt by primarily having the ability to learn and even investigate. They learn to develop a new routine if their old one is disrupted by something outside of their control, or if they have been moved to a new location, they take account of their surroundings by scouting out where their new water, feeding, shelter and bedding sources would be and remember them for future reference.

Cattle also adapt when they do certain things. They learn to avoid a certain object or area that has been painful and stressful in the past, or learn to visit a different object that has given them a possitive association, such as food.

Cattle are adapted to their habitat by natural selection and also help from selection by humans. Usually cattle can cull themselves out, depending on the breed and their foraging ability.
