Power generation is done the same way weather (pun intended) it's drive is from the wind, water or fossil fuel. A generator produces electricity by spinning a rotor inside a stator. Not to get too deep, it's like a wind mill spinning a generator and causing electron flow.
The force of wind turns a large propeller which rotates a turbine that rotates magnets around a coil of wire to produce electricity. (Magnetic Flux)

Wind turbines are used to generate electricity from the kinetic power of the wind. Historical they were more frequently used as a mechanical device to turn machinery. There are two main kinds of wind generators, those with a vertical axis, and those with a horizontal axis. Wind turbines can be used to generate large amounts of electricity in wind farms both onshore and offshore.

One example is the Hawaii Wind Farm.

Hawaii Wind Farm is expected to be capable of generating enough energy to power the equivalent of 10,000 homes. The wind project will supply power to Maui Electric Save Co. under a 20-year contract.

How does wind power produce energy?

They are used to turn the blades of large wind turbines, which generate electricity.

What are wind farms?

A wind farm is a large area of land in which wind mills are spread out. The more they spin they more energy they generate, they generate energy when the wind is anyway between 12 - 75 Kmph.

Application of wind energy?

Windmills are used to drive generators and generate electricity.

Why is wind energy used in Japan the US and Australia?

In Japan and Australia the wind is enough to run a wind mill that can generate energy. Unlike other countries that is not enough.

How do you conserve wind energy?

Wind energy, or rather, electricity produced from wind energy, can be stored in batteries. It can also be used to pump water uphill. This water can then be used later when needed to generate electricity (hydro-electricity).

There are relatively few locations where it can be used.

What are the differences between hydroelectric energy and wind energy?

Hydroelectric energy uses water to turn large turbines in damns to generate electricity, while wind energy uses wind to turn wind turbines to generate electricity.
