Alexander the great was able to build such a large and expansive empire because of his warfare strategy. Alexander the Great was able to defeat any enemy that crossed his path, which allowed him to conquer all of the countries he entered and add them to his empire.

Aside from conquering a very large empire, he also popularized the practice of shaving.
There were several, which were eventually consolidated into Egypt, Syria-Mesopotamia, Pergamon, and Macedonia.

He left soldiers in cities he took, giving orders to marry locals. The soldiers did so gladly. He then sent new merchants to each city and then built academies in new lands.
Alexander the Great had an extensive empire, it stretched from Greece to the Middle East to Asia Minor. The extent of his actions and innovations was vast as well. Alexander the Great blended the cultures of all the different countries he conquered and created Hellenism which lasted until approximately 146 BCE, over a hundred years after Alexander's death.
The most important factor leading to Alexander the Great's eventual decline was the vastness of his empire, which led to overextension and difficulty in managing such a large territory. Additionally, the lack of a clear successor and infighting among his generals after his death contributed to the fragmentation of his empire.
