We only have brief descriptions of the onager which do not provide data for its size. We only have estimates. There were no standard specifications for them and they varied in size and design. Smaller ones were probably were 4X5 metres (12X16 ft.). Bigger ones could be 9-10 metres (29X32 ft.) long and had arms mounted on higher frames and reached up to 7-9 metres (26-29 ft.) in height. They could fire rocks of up to 70 kg (150 lbs.) within a range of 450 yards. The effective range was 250-350 yards
