There should be two holes in the side of the bed at the head end. Two long screws go into these and the 'legs' of the headboard are held in place with these. The 'legs' of the headboard generally have a channel cut in them to allow the legs to slide up and down so that the headboard can be adjusted fro height.

I got my industrial about 1 year ago. The first 6 months trying to sleep on it were sore. Now 1 year later and yes, I can sleep on it but in the morning it is still sore.
