Mine started mating yesterday and I found three eggs today. I have two Golden Comet hens, two Rhode Island Red hens and one Rhode Island Red Rooster.
A week.
As long as there is no rooster around to mate with the hens, you will not receive fertile eggs.
Not at all. Chickens do not need to mate to lay eggs, but they must mate in order for these eggs to be fertile, i.e. able to hatch into chicks.
i think they get jiggy with a mate and lay eggs.
I'm sorry to see that the best thing to do is go to the vet and then they will take care of the eggs
no because they have no one to mate with.
eggs
All female birds can lay eggs without a mate. However, without a male, the eggs will be infertile and will not hatch.
the male injects the sperm into the female
when you get it a mate.
They can mate and then the female can lay the eggs.
I think so- I have a love bird and I see that it will mate with any other bird -parakeet included. However I am not sure if they will lay eggs or if the eggs laid will be fertilized. The genome differrence of the two should be considered and may be that will provide the right answer
