3 years
I read once, a long time ago, that the last words spoken by King Henry VIII were: "Monks, Monks, Monks".
The title dates back to a dish of Kentish cherries which particularly satisfied King Henry VIII over 400 years ago.
King Henry VII died on the 21st April 1509 (aged 52) at Richmond Palace, England. Therefore: 2015 minus 1509 = 506 years ago.
Okay, so it wasn't long ago that i was looking for this answer for an assignment of mine. I found the answer and thought that i should put it up here for others who have wanted it :) In January 1533, King Henry VIII discovered that he had gotten Anne Boleyn pregnant. It was important that the child should not be classes as illegitimate, so arrangements were made for the two to get married. King Charles V of Spain threatened to invade England if the marriage took place, but Henry ignored these threats and the marriage proceeded. Thomas More, Henry's Lord Chancellor, was opposed to the king's plans to divorce Catherine of Aragon and resigned from office. When he refused to accept Henry as head of the church he was convicted of high treason and executed at the Tower of London.
