What are the messurements of a big guinea pig's cage?

A cage should be big enough for the pet to stand up in. It should be long enough for the pet to turn around in. The normal size for a guinea pig is a cage that is 2 feet by 2 feet and a foot tall.

How many times should you brush a guinea pig a week?

If your guinea pig has long hair, maybe two to three times a week. If your guinea pig has short hair and shed often, two times a week should be fine; if he / she has short hair and does not shed often, once a week should be fine. However, it's key to remember that they clean themselves with their paws. If you see that your guinea pig is often cleaning him/herself, keep the cage cleaner more often.

Can chipmunks and guinea pigs live together?

guinea pigs and chipmunks should not live together.

Do guinea pigs get diarrhea if they are fed treats too often?

I dont think so they do get diarrhea if you leave a fresh fruit or vegatable in their cage to long and they eat it then they do

Would it be ok for 2 guinea pigs to be in a cage that is 42x28?

It's a little small, but guinea pigs don't actually need very much space. Two guinea pigs should be fine, as long as they are both females.

Are guinea pigs odourless?

Most of the time guinea pigs don't have an odour as long as you clean their cage often. If they are still stinky, you can always give them a bath. If you want to give then a bath you should either use bunny, kitten or ferret shampoo, dog shampoo is too strong and natural shampoo is the best for them.

If a female guinea pig is pregnant can a male rabbit be in the cage?

Guinea pigs and rabbits should not be kept together, under any circumstances, regardless of their sex. Rabbits can kick and guinea pigs are likely to be injured sooner or later. You could probably allow a rabbit to share a grassy outdoor run with a guinea pig during the day, so long as you have a small den or hiding place for the guinea pig that is too small for the rabbit to get into, but you should never house them together in a hutch or cage.

How long does it takes to clean out a cage?

it depends how big the cage is - my large guinea pig cage (2 by 4 foot) takes about 10 mins - hope that helped x

6 month old guinea pig Is it ok to introduce a second female guinea pig right now If so how big should the cage be that they share?

If the first Guinea pig is either female, or a neutered boar (male), then they should be fine. They thrive much better with company than on their own. In my experience, the perfect realtionship is a neutered boar and two females. The cage should be as big as possible however 3 piggies should be fine in a cage 600x1200mm as long as there is a bit of room for them to plan and jump. I have a cage that is two storeys, one for a big play area and then a slope up to a second floor where all their bedding is.

What should you do if you just got a guinea pig but you are too scared to put it in its cage in case something happens to it?

A guinea pig actually is safer in it's cage, provided that you have a good cage for it. It's far more likely to be hurt or get lost if it's out of it's cage. Also, the guinea pig wants to make a home and/or nest and wants bedding material, such as wood shavings. You need to ask the pet store people what would be good bedding material for your guinea pig.Get your guinea pig out of it's cage to play with it or just to hold it, but it needs to be in it's cage the rest of the time.Answerve it running round, someone is likely to step on it that would be far worse than putting it in its cage AnswerI just got a Guinea Pig yesterday. :) He's so sweet. (anyway, enough with my blathering!) A Guinea Pig is safer in it's cage! Even more so if you have another pet such as a cat or dog. A Guinea Pig would prefer it's cage, too. If you leave him in his carry-home box too long, he might get too scared and stressed out and get sick. The sooner you put him in his cage, the sooner he'll feel comfortable and the sooner you two can begin bonding! :) A cage is way more safe in the long run anyway! Goodluck! -GuineaBoo

How long should you wait before cleaning out the guinea pig cage after it has babies?

Probably just to be safe a week or two. Be careful touching the newborns because they are very delicate.

Can a guinea pig use a cage meant for other animals?

Yes as long as it's big enough for it.
