Most shoes that are worn for recreational use (you know doing what normal people do like running sometimes, and walking) can last up to 8 years. Other shoes made for SPECIFIC sports and stuff last as long as they can survive wear and tear. I have had a pair of Vans Chukka Lows for about 3 years now. The wear on mine are fine around the lips (the rubber part around the bottom) but the rest of my shoes are torn in places from wear. I skateboard often, but dont generally run in them, I most likey have about 300 miles in them. So from my shoe use and the amount of time I have had them I would make the estimated assumtion that they should last about 5 years with expected use.
if you want some thin vulc shoes go with chukka lows other than that i recommend halfcabs if you want some thin vulc shoes go with chukka lows other than that i recommend halfcabs
