There's not a vaccine for cholera. People ususally just let it run it's course, the only way you die from this bacterial infection is from dehydration-you loose like 5 gallons of water a day from diarrhea. You can take antibiotics, but I hear it doesn't help that much.-Jess
New information indicates that the immunization from a flu vaccine can lose effectiveness over time, but it can last a lifetime...however, only for that one exact kind of flu virus. These viruses can mutate to different forms fairly quickly and once they change much at all, our prior exposure to the initial virus (or the vaccination for it) is no longer effective to prevent infection by the new strain resulting from the mutation. Sometimes they are close enough that the prior vaccine will work, other times, they are not. If you get an annual vaccination for the flu each year, your chances of getting the flu that is circulating that year are still significantly reduced.
The vaccine doesn't make you immune to cholera. Protection against travelers' diarrhea caused by ETEC lasts for about three months. You can get a booster in 2 years, but the vaccine doesn't work well.
Yes. The cholera vaccine is a killed vaccine.
Cholera vaccine is very cheap. Cholera vaccine does not give protection of more than 60 %. It may give you false sense of security. Never the less the importance of cholera vaccine can not be underestimated.
In cholera vaccination you are injected the dead cells of cholera. So you get antibodies to cholera. This vaccine is not very effective. The protection rate is some where 50 to 60 % only. So you can not keep faith on the vaccine for protection from cholera.
Yes. I have had it.

Waldemar Haffkine (1860 - 1930) was a microbiologist who worked at the Pasteur Institute in France. He bravely tested the cholera vaccine on himself and also thousands of people in India. He dedicated his inspiration for the vaccine to Louis Pasteur.
Waldemar Haffkine first developed the vaccine for cholera around 1900.
