If the burning is on the left side of your chest, it is your heart. If else where or all throughout your chest and it hurts to breathe this is your lungs. You could possibly have lung or heart cancer. Contact a doctor immediately for health care and precautions.

for about a week i think. Will not last a week-- Your lungs are filtering out the "gunk" out of your lungs, from how many years you've smoked. it can take anywere between 6months to a year. before you would see any improvement. However, for how ever long you smoked the tightness in your chest could mean target a lot of issues. Such as COPD chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. that could cause shortness of breath, tightness in the chest. I'd see your Physican if you have any concerns. ----Resources------- I'm a Registered nurse.

A plaster compress made from lotus root, white flour, and grated ginger is considered an effective folk remedy for dispersing and moving stagnated mucus. I have been advised that using this poultice on the chest for a week or two after quitting smoking will draw vile toxins from the lungs and chest. I haven't tied it yet but have purchased the Lotus root so will post results in a few weeks.
