Discus (Symphysodon sp) are a large fish requiring extremely good water of specific parameters. They also need regular water changes of at least 10% each day and 70% once a week in order to thrive. The calculation for all freshwater fish is around 1 gal of water (4.5ltrs) is required per 1 inch of fish (2.5cm). A well grown Discus can get to the size of a dinner plate but more commonly they reach the size of a DVD or CD. I have always allowed 10gals per adult Discus but have been criticised for overcrowding.
it really matters how good you take care of them they could live to 10 years, or more! or maybe only 3-4

a long fish.
they survive because a storm is out of the water not inside of the water so as long as the fish is in the water the fish would be perfecly fine
Star fish can survive about 5 days out of water. Then they will die from Dehydration.
How long a red tailed catfish can stay out of the water depends on the fish in question and how moist the fish's gills are.

no as long as there is water conditioner/ purifier in it
You can put it right in with your fish if you like! As long as you put the recommended amount in, the water will automatically diffuse the solution.
