Juveniles could get away with stealing depending on the state. The age of the convicted person also carries into effect as stealing is carried a different crime for kids. In some states they may just be fined for it or given community service.

It depends on what you mean by "stealing." If you took it from the person by threat or by force, you committed a robbery, a serious offense. If you took it sneakily like from out of a backpack, etc. you committed simple theft, a lesser offense. Also it will depend on YOUR juvenile record, if any.
