Hamsters can usually go without food and water as long as people (about 3 days).
Instead of leaving them without food & water in your local pet stores you can buy what is called a vacation bar. You give it to the hamster before leaving.
As for water, Give a big fresh bowl of water and they should be fine.

∙ 13y agoIf a hamster had no water intake, then of course it would die. However, a hamster has an efficient excretory system, and it might be that a hamster who seems to be ignoring its water bottle, is getting all the necessary water from watery foods like lettuce, and apple.
