Dachshunds are an extremely long-lived breed of Dog, Miniatures often reaching 15 years of age. I had two Kennel Club registered Miniatures that officially lived to 22 years old! The current World's Oldest Living Dog is a Dachshund.
A dachshund can live well into its 'teens . . . 15, 16, 17 years usually.
By the way, the name 'dachshund' comes from the German words:
"dachs" meaning in English, "Badgers", and
"Hund" meaning in English, "Dog, hound, or terrier".
It is correctly pronounced, " DOCKS - hoont ", and is definitely NOT 'Dash hound'.
Depending on size and breed. Usually, bigger dogs do not live as long as smaller dogs..
