Kittens solely drink milk from their mother until they 4 to 8 weeks old. During this time, the kittens often start to eat solid food - which often takes a few weeks. Kittens feed little and often due to their tiny stomachs.

I takes about 8 weeks for the newborn to become a full grown kitten. And about 8 to 9 month for the kitten to become a juvenile (young) cat. By this time though, it is not a "full" grown cat.

The kittens will dehydrate quickly without Mom's milk. If the kittens are not getting any milk, purchase a milk replacer for kittens, such as Esbilac, etc. This can be found in the large feed stores or pet stores. Get a bottle too. Make sure kittens are warm, never feed them when they are cold. They should be fed every 2-3 hrs after born. If the Mother is with them, let them nurse on her even if you don't think she has any milk. The demand may bring her milk in. Make sure you are feeding her a good name brand of kitten food along with some canned food mixed in.

Newborn kittens should be fed often from their mothers. If you have found newborn kittens that have been abandoned they can only survive up to 36 hours before succumbing to dehydration.

Why does your older cat have a low meow now that you have added a kitten to the household?

It's probably because the cat is a little scared of the kitten. If your cat gave birth to the kitten, then it's having a hard time getting its meow right. Because when a kitten comes out of its mama, the mama's tummy hurts a little when it came out. So give your cat some time to think and get its meow right. Or just let the cat get to know the kitten. Good luck with that. :)

What happens if your cat is older than a kitten and it still has a kitten meow?

You pet it and enjoy the little meow! Honestly, I don't think this is any sort of problem at all. I'm no vet, but that sounds perfectly adorable.

Will meow mix harm a ferret?

Meow Mix for cats is not an appropriate diet for a ferret. Feed your ferret a high quality ferret food or if not available, a high quality kitten food (not cat food) such as Iams or Eukanuba kitten food. DUH! ITS CALLED MEOW MIX NOT FERRET MIX! :)
