Davis began his schooling in a log schoolhouse in Woodville, Mississippi, called the Wilkinson Academy. Two years later he was sent to a Catholic school in Kentucky. He was seven years old when he went to this boarding school, and was the only Protestant student. This was St. Thomas School, at St. Rose Priory, in Washington County, Kentucky, operated by the Domenicans. When he was twelve Davis went to Jefferson "College" in Washington Mississippi, which was not a true college but more of a good private secondary academy. He went to a real university at age 15, "the Harvard of the West", Transylvania College in Lexington, Kentucky. After three years later President Monroe asked Jefferson to join the US Military academy at west point in1824 four years later he graduated and then married zachart taylors daughter they went to get married but zach decided to not lert his baby girl marry him they then fought .
