Like most English castles, Hever was constructed in separate phases over many hundreds of years (not all in one long period of construction).
It was originally built as a fortified country house (not really a castle) in 1270; in 1462 it was converted into a manor; in the 20th century a programme of repair and reconstruction was undertaken, resulting in the present building.

Construction on Bodiam Castle was begun in 1385, and the castle was built rather quickly, in a single effort. It was completed before the owner died in 1395, and is thought to have been completed in about 1392.
Chepstow Castle was built in fits and starts over the period of 1067 to 1300. I did not find any record that indicate how much of this time was actually spent on construction, but the impression I get is that it was not much more than 20 or 25 years.
