It began shortly before noon (Some records indicate as early as 11:30 AM.) Cavalry harried the routed French until as late as 23:00. Wellington and Blucher met at 22:00 (although some accounts record it as 21:00) which marks the ''official'' end of the Battle which has an elapsed time of ''"about 10 hours".'' Wellington had 15,000 dead or wounded. Blucher had 7,000 dead or wounded. Napoleon had 25,000 dead or wounded and 8,000 men were taken prisoner. That worked out to a casualty rate of 78 men per minute with some units having casualty rates as high as 96%.
