Brake pad life depends totally upon how you use your brakes. They will probably last less than 30,000 miles if you:

  • wait until the last second and then jamb on the brakes for a hard stop;
  • rest your foot on the brake pedal while driving;
  • use only the brakes instead of also using the engine to help slow the vehicle
I am getting ready to replace my brake pads for the first time in my 2004 Ford Escape and it has nearly 100,000 miles on it.
