No set answer to that. Depends on the power rating of the motor and how hard you're running it.

How long do golf cart batteries last?

The amount of time a golf cart battery will last depends on the quality of the battery, the climate, and how well it is taken care of. A cheap battery in warm climate will last 1-2 years, and in cool climate 2-3 years. A premium quality battery should last 3-4 years in a warm climate and 4-5 years in a cool climate. How do you charge golf cart batteries with 12 volt charger and how do you hook it up to the batteries still in the golf cart?

Not being sure of your golf cart voltage, I will give it a try. Count the caps on on batteries, each cap is two volts, so if you have three caps per battery, you have a 6 volt battery. Now count the batteries and multiply by battery voltage, 6 batteries times 6 volts equals a 36 volt system, and so on. You may only charge 12 at time with your charger, so you will have to remove a few battery to battery cables. The cables start with a positive post go to the main system of the cart, with it's neg post connected to the pos. post of the next battery in line, a so on until the last battery in line neg. post goes to the main system of the cart, making a full circle. You must separate the batteries in to 12 volt groups with the main system cables discounted from the main system to prevent damage to it. Remove the neg. cable first, and install it last, safety thing. Need more help contact me through my board and I will try to help.

How do you know if your golf cart batteries are bad?

If you have a manual charger follow the charging instructions. After a full charge, do an On-Charge Voltage Test. Get your volt meter out and set it to 200v dc with the charger on. We will be checking individual battery voltages, start with the #1 battery (where the positive lead goes to the cart) placing the positive lead of the voltmeter on battery positive and the negative lead of the voltmeter on battery negative, move down the line until the last battery. For 36v carts with six 6v batteries we want each battery to read at least 7.0v. For 48v carts with six 8v batteries were looking for at least 9.3v on each battery. Put your safety glasses and safety gloves on. Remove all battery caps. Get your hydrometer out and start with the #1 battery take your sample from each battery cell and write it down. You should have readings of 1100 to 1300, 1100 being close to water and 1300 being acid. Start with the #1 battery. If there is a difference of 50 points or more between cells you have a bad battery. Here is an example of a good battery. 1265 1275 1265 Here is an example of a bad battery: 1265 1175 1265

How do wire 6 car batteries to get 36 volts?

Series three of the six batteries into group one. Series the other three remaining batteries into group two. Parallel group one and twos positives together. Parallel group one and twos negatives together. The total voltage will equal 36 volts on the paralleled positive and negative cables. If you are thinking of using these on a golf cart then forget it. Automobile batteries are not deep cell batteries as a golf cart battery is. They are not designed to be totally discharged as a deep cell battery is. They will work but will not last very long. The repeated charge and discharge will destroy the batteries in a very short time.
