The Venus Fly Trap will live between 10 and 11 years.
Additional Info: They are Perennials, from the east coast of North Carolina. The plant lives a very long time outdoors, especially if the region is cut back or burned back fairly regularly. There was no actual lifespan listed. While indoors it's lifespan is usually shorten due to care, and soil issues. Indoors or out the "traps" will die after 2-3 captures, and should be removed when they darken and die. The plant goes dormant for the winter and many people think they are dieing, this mistake helps shorten the life of indoor plants also. For more details, please see the sites listed below.
Venus Flytraps can live up to 7-8 years if taken care of indoors. If leaves get brown clip off and it will grow a new one. Do not throw the plant away if that happens. Because some people think that they are dying but the are not. If outdoors Venus Flytraps can live up to 10-11 years. If it is a baby than feed it small insects like gnats. Do not feed it large insects if it is a baby, but if grown then you may feed it bigger insects like flies. You don't always have to feed it however. It will catch small bugs that you are not aware of independently. Do not put them in direct sunlight or they will die, so put them in good but not direct light.
Venus Flytraps can live forever depending on how well the conditions are. Their lives can grow into independent plants as well as clone themselves.
Grown from seed - a Venus fly-trap plant takes 4 to 5 years to reach maturity - and can live as long as 25-30 years if cultivated correctly !
