I believe this varies from state to state, typically there is no cooling off period. You hear alot people say "You have 72 hours" this is not always the case. If you sign a contract its legally binding and you now own that auto. Its at the pure discretion of the dealer whether or not they take the vehicle back and let you out of your purchase. If you do feel rushed before you sign ANYTHING ask the dealer to give you a copy of your contract or numbers and let you take the vehicle home to think it over. This gives you time to let the emotional high of buying a car subside so you can use logic to make your final decision. The dealer will try to tell you they cant give out the contract or purchase order because of privacy issues. Well its your information so you are entitled to it. If they won't let you have it then its a good time to walk away. Hope this helps
