The minimum degree requirement for entry level positions is a bachelor's degree in social work (BSW). For higher positions a master's or doctorate may be required.
I don't want to be a social worker. I think the question is perhaps one YOU should answer if it is YOUR job application. How can anyone else but YOU know what YOU want out of life.

There are many excellent school that offer degrees in Psychology, with a specialty in Social Work. You can choose to attend a two year college to take your core requirements in general education. Then when you have earned the credits, transfer to a four year college to complete the first phase of your education. You will then want to attend at least two years of Graduate school in an MBA Social Worker program.

Well. If that child or children has parents who are taking care of them then you have a very slim chance. However, if the child is in foster care or in the state's custody I would go visit the child and ask who the child's social worker is.. Then get into contact with the social worker and ask about adopting the child
