The hormones last only as long as the rings in your body. The ring is supposed to be taken out every three weeks and you can go get a new one.
After Nuva Ring is out for seven days, you no longer have protection against pregnancy. If you had a regular 28 day cycle prior to using Nuva Ring, you can expect to ovulate in 2-4 weeks, and for your first post-ring period to come in 4-6 weeks.
You keep it in for three weeks, and remove it for one week. Pregnancy protection stops after it's been out for 7 days. Ovulation starts 2-4 weeks after that, and the next period arrives 4-6 weeks after.
After taking out the last Nuva Ring, you'll get your usual withdrawal bleed. After that, you can expect your next period in four to six weeks, if your periods were regular 28 day cycles prior to using Nuva Ring. If they were not regular before, they are likely to resume their previous irregular habit.
Depends a lot on a persons individual body and how it takes to the active medication in the bc also depends on how long you were on the Birth Control. It should stay in your systematleast the 7 days you on your off week. But sometimes people will find when ttc that it can take months to get a bfp when others get a bfp within the next month.

∙ 13y agoThe NuvaRing is only for one month, when it is used as is approved. The approved length of use by the FDA is up to three weeks, with a one week break following. During this one weak break, menstruation will occur, but no pregnancy can occur. So the total length of protection is one month.

∙ 9y agoNuvaRing remains effective for up to four weeks after inserting it. If you leave it in for the four weeks, though, be sure to insert the next ring at the end of the four weeks; don't take a ring-free week unless you had it in for just three weeks.

It is effective immediately. The ring works just like the birth control pills. Except instead of taking non-active pills that week you take out the nuvaring for a week.

Answer 2:In order for the NuvaRing to be effective, you must use it the way it supposed to be used. You must NOT remove it the day after having unprotected sex. Also, sex with Nuvaring is not unprotected sex. You protected, with Nuvaring :-).I would say it is pretty clear to anyone that the NUvaring should be used as described in the manual in order to be effective for future time. The question here, however, is if taking the Nuvaring out has consequences on being still protected from the effects of a previous sexual intercourse. NuvaRing will be effective no matter where it is in the vagina. You may be more confortable if it's at the top of the vagina than if it's lower. But if you're comfortable, and the ring is in the vagina, you are protected against pregnancy.

You can breastfeed with or without NuvaRing in. If you are relying on NuvaRing for pregnancy prevention, taking it out to breastfeed is going to increase your risk for pregnancy. If you're breastfeeding while using NuvaRing, removing it for a few hours does nothing to improve your milk supply, but does make it less effective. Please contact your health care provider, pharmacist, or lactation consultant to discuss NuvaRing and breastfeeding, as it seems there has been some misunderstanding. NuvaRing may decrease milk volume, which could be important with a newborn. It does not affect the quality of the milk.
