Notwithstandng any law to the contrary, any person charged with possession of marijuana less than (misd) imprisonment not to exceed one year, 1000 dollar fine or both. This is for the first time.
If this is your first, try to get a deferment be placed on probatiion...... realizing if you do get this deferment you will have to attend classes. You cannot violate probation, drug test etc.. If fullfillment of terms and conditions court will discharge the person and proceedings against them. Violation of terms and agreements, the court may enter an adjudication of guilt and proceed accordingly.

∙ 9y agoIf you are an adult then it stays forever. In some states if you were aquitted or found not guilty or it was stetted you can look into expunging it (in GA they now call it record restriction) from the record. I know here in MD they charge 30.00 to expunge which means it is removed from record.
However if you were found guilty then sorry it is there forever.

In Georgia, misdemeanors carry a maximum of 1 year confinement and $1,000 fine.
