I have had nylon halters that have been used for well over twenty years. So long as it is quality make, and you keep it clean so it doesn't become stiff, it should last longer then what you will need it for.

How would you approach and catch a Thoroughbred mare?

If you have a horse that is a problem to catch there are a couple of things you can do. If at all possible keep him by himself if he shares a pasture with other horses. The ideal would be to put her in a smaller paddock where she has a common fence line with her friends. When she has a much smaller enclosure she will find out very fast that she can't avoid you. The larger the enclosure the more she can run you around.A horse with a halter can be much easier to catch. But if you opt for this you must not use a nylon halter. Nylon halters won't break and your horse could get it caught on something and injure herself. There are 'break-away' halters that will snap if much pressure is put on them. Or a leather halter will be safer because leather will snap or break with very little pressure also. And last, try not to get angry. Remain calm even if you don't feel it. Always praise her when she lets you approach and give her a treat. Most horses can't resist a kind word and a snack.

What is the difference between nylon and non nylon tipped drumsticks?

Nylon tips are louder, harder sound, and last longer. Plus if your drumsticks are colored and your toms are white, they keep the paint on the tip from marking your toms.

What different types of halters for horses are there?

There are many varieties of halters for horses. They can generally be sorted into the following basic types: Leather, rope, nylon, and show. Leather halters are selected because they are 'breakable.' If a horse is tied and pulls away, or if the halter becomes stuck on something, it will break before the horse can hurt himself, or, for example, pull over your trailer or snap your fencepost. Leather halters are also attractive and can last a long time if the leather is properly conditioned and cared for and isn't allowed to dryrot. Rope halters are made from knotted ropes and are generally used for training. They exert extra pressure on the nose bone, therefore preventing strong-headed horses from pulling as much. Rope 'slips' are unknotted and are made to gently lead foals and young horses without damaging their slender necks or fur by preventing the handler from pulling them. Nylon halters are a popular choice because of their affordability and durability. They come in many fun colors and will not break. If your horse gets it muddy out in the pasture, they can be easily cleaned and they never dry rot and are very hard to break. However some nylon halters, if poorly dyed, will stain a light-colored horse's coat when wet. Also nylon halters DO NOT BREAK (unless made with a special breakaway snap or a leather crownpiece) so if your horse becomes entangled in a fence or pulls back from being tied, he will be stuck and could hurt himself or break whatever he's tied too. Show halters come in many forms, from the silver-embossed western leather halter to the delicate Arab slip. They can be expensive and meant to make your horse look really really good, however they are more form than function and impractical for daily use.

Do Longchamp bags last a long enough to justify pay 120 for a custom handbag?

It depends. I bought a nylon lobngchamp bag with a leather flap for $120.00. It lasted well for about 3 weeks, then the edges started to fray because it is nylon. If you want a designer nylon bag, I recommend the nylon Tory Burch Tory bag. It will not fray because the bottom is not nylon.

What are some horse compititions?

There are so many fun things to do with a horse. Depending on where you live you can find many different competitions and horse shows. For English riders there are hunter/jumpers, dressage and even side-saddle classes. If you ride Western there are Western Pleasure classes, competition trail (obstacles in an arena), Trail Trials (obstacles on an actual trail ride), cutting cattle competitions, Reining (which is now an Olympic event), and in-hand classes like Halter and Showmanship. These last 2 you show your horse with just a halter and lead. These are just a small sample of types of competitions. Try a local horse club because sometimes they sponsor small shows called "schooling shows". These are usually close, inexpensive, and a great way for you and your horse to get some experience and decide if you want to go on to bigger competitions. It's also a great way to meet other horse people.
