Forever it you don't live in the state of Florida. However, if you still reside in Florida, it depends on what the original charge was.

The VOP warrant does not expire. It may become inactive, but likely would be entered into the NCIS system. If you are stopped or flying out of the country, and your information is ran through the NCIS, then you could be detained by local authorities while Marion County makes a decision to extradite or not. And yes, they will extradite form surrounding states (advised of this personally by Marion County SO - as of July 12, this is their policy. I have proof as my partner had a 12 years old VOP for a 1st degree misdemenaor and they detained him at the Atlanta Airport and he was in jail 14 days and transported to FL before he appeared before the court and was released after time served and fines. Take care of it BEFORE you get in that situation. In additon, for his VOP warrant, there was NO BAIL and there would not have been a bail set at all. He got his hearing moved up by his atty and got it resolved. His case was simple as he assumed it was taken care of. Two weeks away from home proved it had note been. He said that he would never want his worst enemy to have to go through what he went through at that jail.
