You can surround the ice with another cold substance such as an ice cooler or more ice. Ice will melt slower if it is surrounded with more ice. Also you can keep it in a constantly cold place such as a freezer or deep freezer. As long as it is always surrounded by a constant 32 degrees or lower it will not melt. Hope that helps.(:

It all depends on the surrounding humidity and the surface area of the ice. A good example would be something that I observed when I was still quite young, my mother used to hang out the wash in subzero temperatures. (This was before the days of clothes dryers) The clothes she hung out were very wet as they were hand washed and also wrung out by hand. They would freeze solid just about immediately, you had to leave them alone or they would break. After that she would keep an eye on them from inside the house. If there was a breeze after a time she would see the clothes move in the breeze at which time she would Know there was no more ice or water in the clothes. According to her it took just as much time for frozen clothes to dry as it did for just wet clothes. Allowing a little time for the water that did not drip out.
