How to Determine If You Need Boat Insurance?

Owning a boat is one of the most exciting luxuries one can have. Regardless of what the boat will be used for, there is something so amazing with the idea that you own something that only a few people are lucky to have. After the euphoria of actually purchasing the boat has died down, you need to think of the practical steps you need to do to make sure that you can get to enjoy your boat for a long, long time. Getting boat insurance should be one of the first steps you should think of doing before (when you are about to close the deal) or immediately after purchasing the boat. However, if you still have qualms on whether you would need the insurance or not, here are some tips to help you make your final decision on the matter. Step 1: Before you even purchase the boat, talk to the people in the dealership and ask their opinion if it would be a wise decision to get boat insurance, or what type of coverage you would need. These people are constantly in contact with boat insurance agents, and would be able to give you valuable information on the matter. If you are not satisfied with the feedback you get, take the time to think about the matter first before plunging into getting a boat insurance policy. Step 2: Get in touch with a trusted insurance agent/company, and ask their opinion on whether you would need to have boat insurance. You can talk to the people who are handling your car or homeowners insurance, who might be able to provide important information about this issue. Step 3: Verify with your state if it is mandatory for you to get boat insurance, or if it is optional. You can personally contact your local officials to get the necessary information, or you can go to the local government’s website for this. Getting boat insurance is a matter that should be carefully thought about, and one which should not be rushed. Your decision will depend on a number of factors, so you have to make sure that you think of all these factors to come up with the wisest decision for you and your boat.

What do you do when your insurance company denies your stolen car claim and drops you?

If they denied that claim for cause, such as fraud, then there is nothing you can do. If they did not have cause, you can try contacting the department of insurance in your state. That is of course, as long as you had comphrensive coverage on the policy. If you did not have coverage, they do not have to pay for anything.

Do rental cars get stolen and if so do the rental companies have theft insurance?

Unfortunately - yes, rental cars do get stolen. Most rental comapnies have theft insurance, but usually have some sort of deductible. Rental cars get stolen from customers all the time. If you were to accept the Lost Damage Waiver from most companies, the car would be covered, there is NO deductible. Now if you were to leave the keys in the car, or give them to someone and they took off with the car; you are out of luck. This is correct. LDW/CDW (depends on the state) would cover the car as long as the contract was not violated and as long as it wasn't stolen due to your neglect to protecting the car.
