it never sheds
If it is a hermit crab, then it is like any other hermit crab, so just take care of it as you would to a regular hermit crab :)
Actually it doesn't take very long for a hermit crab to smell when it's dead. They will not smell if they just died. About 10-15 mins they will start to smell. You have to put the hermit crab up to your nose in order to smell the rotten fish smell.
no as long as you take care of it and you are not overcrowding the tank
at the very most 20 years maybe 30 if you take very good care of your crab
Absolutely. Marine hermit crabs (saltwater hermit crabs) also, like the land hermit crab, have a soft abdomen that is not protected by a hard exoskeleton, so they scavenge shells from snails as they grow to wear for protection. The marine hermit crab will also shed it's exoskeleton as it grows. This is a very fast process, taking only a few hours to a day compared to the molting process of the land hermit crab, which can take several days to a few months.
This depends on the type of hermit crab, along with the age, and in some cases, gender.
pet co ?
yes
It is safe to take a hermit crab out of the tank as long as the temperature is warm and the humidity is high. They can't go for "walks" like you would take a dog, but they can wander on a table or in the bathtub with careful supervision.
3 to 4 years
not possible
it means that it is time for it to grow and will change it's shell when it is done. If you see the shedded exoskeleton, DO NOT REMOVE IT because the hermit crab will be hungry and will eat the exoskeleton for calcium. my hermit crab is eating his molted claw right now... kinda wierd though
