Carrots usually take 12 weeks (3 months) to grow. Depending on the type. My Chantenay Red Cored take 65-75 days. The carrot seedlings should take 10-12 (or 2 weeks) to emerge. Other carrots will take longer.

They should be able to be harvested 1-3 months later.

To grow the carrots will need to be protected from wind, plant them near a wall outside, or somewhere the wind won't blow too hard. Sunlight should be able to come in on the carrots occasionally.

Plant them in Winter and they'll be ready by Autumn.

Tip: You don't have to plant seeds in their places after you harvest the carrots. The mature carrots will start to give away seeds into the soil, you just need to water them daily. They will stop after nine months, so wait until about eightish months and plant the seeds again.

Note: Plant the seeds in soft, rich, light soil and the rows of seeds (if you don't sprinkle them randomly) 30 cms apart.

Carrots grow upside down because they follow their root systems which always grow towards the soil. The leaves of carrots grow toward the sunlight to direct it to the rest of the plant.
