It depends on the conditions that the batting is exposed to and whether it has been treated with textile finishes. Lint from garment manufacturers has been successfully composted, but this is a carefully controlled environment. Some finishes will decompose at low concentratins but not at high concentrations. Finishes containing chemicals to prevent odors from perspiration may not degrade at all.

well I did an experiment on it for 2 weeks and it didn't. You should test it for more time.

Cotton rope will decompose differently according to strength, length, soil type and acidity, but it will certainly decompose in a few months in wet conditions.
