It depends on the conditions that the batting is exposed to and whether it has been treated with textile finishes. Lint from garment manufacturers has been successfully composted, but this is a carefully controlled environment. Some finishes will decompose at low concentratins but not at high concentrations. Finishes containing chemicals to prevent odors from perspiration may not degrade at all.
