I think if you keep your hand long enough in a freezer it can get frost bite, but no. You can not get freezer burn from touching a freezer. That requires a long peorid of time.
once it was put in the freezer BEFORE its sell by date it will be fine, but if it was me i'd make sure it was eaten within 24 of defrosting & check the manufacturers recommendations for how long to leave stuff in the freezer its usually use within 3 months of freezing so if its in there for 12 months i wouldn't eat it!
Frozen cooked pumpkin will stay good for up to 3-4 months. Freezing raw pumpkin is not a good idea.
