If you think about it, only a few seasons, because leaves grow in spring, stay intact in summer, then start to lose color and fall off their food and water source in fall. After that, the buried in snow and biodegraded into earth

Well, a whole plant itself takes 6 weeks to 50 years to grow. So, a leaf would have to take at least a week maybe. There are usually several leaves on a plant, and since for a small plant it takes 6 weeks. Then 2-4 week of that is the leaf growing process.
